Jacques van Rooyen
Jacques is a qualified Chartered Accountant and completed his articles at KPMG, having qualified in 2001. Jacques continued his career as a manager in a medium sized firm, but decided to enter the commercial world in early 2003, as financial manager of a group of subsidiary companies of a listed concern. His involvement in the full financial and reporting function and the strong controls environment of a listed group structure has led to an appreciation of time management and getting the job done under less than favourable conditions.
Jacques moved on to things more sedate and over the period of late 2004 until early 2010, except for a short stint in New Zealand, was involved in the education of young aspiring chartered accountants at Varsity College (UNISA) and University of KwaZulu Natal. The nature of lecturing has included various fields ranging from Taxation, Auditing, Management Accounting and ending with a strong focus on Financial Accounting at the 2nd and 3rd years and Honours level.
Throughout his time, Jacques has been an active member of the Midlands District Association of SAICA, serving as Chairman from 2010 to 2014, and has for numerous years been instrumental in providing training and development for practitioners and their staff. Not only has Jacques got a strong technical background, but a practical involvement with practitioners has led him to have a strong auditing background as he has often assisted with quality control review at the SAICA member firms. Jacques has also worked in New Zealand and Australia for Grant Thornton International as National Technical Manager and brings with him a wealth of world class practices. He joined the practice as partner in March 2010. Although Jacques could be seen as a technical IFRS expert, he has many strings to his bow and adds a huge diversity to the practice without deviating from the core areas of the practice.
Jacques is a strong family man and is blessed with a lovely wife Melissa and 3 daughters. As a keen musician, he can often be seen playing guitar and bass guitar.
